At ACTION, we believe that every person has the power to make a difference in their community. That is why we have dedicated ourselves to building a powerful grassroots community organization that tackles the pressing issues of poverty, racism, and social injustice.
Our journey began in 1999 when a group of pastors and directors of local organizations came together with a shared vision of creating positive change in our neighborhoods. Recognizing the need for guidance and support, we approached the Gamaliel Foundation, a renowned organization known for its expertise in community development. With their guidance, we were able to establish ACTION as a non-profit, tax-exempt organization in the State of Ohio.
Today, ACTION is a membership-based organization composed of 30 institutions. Our members come from diverse backgrounds and faith traditions, but we are united by our shared values and commitment to making a difference. Together, we work tirelessly to develop a community of diverse leaders who are driven by their faith and a desire to create a more just and equitable society.
With our mission as our compass, we embark on a journey to raise awareness and seek solutions. We firmly believe that poverty, racism, and social injustice are not insurmountable obstacles. By coming together and harnessing the power of our collective action, we can create tangible and lasting change.
Our work is multi-faceted and encompasses various initiatives to address the root causes of these systemic issues. Through education and advocacy, we strive to raise awareness and combat the narratives that perpetuate poverty, racism, and social injustice. We empower individuals in our community by providing them with the tools and resources they need to overcome the barriers that hold them back.
Additionally, we work tirelessly to create opportunities for dialogue and collaboration. By fostering relationships and partnerships with other organizations, government agencies, and community leaders, we are able to amplify our impact and work towards meaningful solutions.
